Before the Boss arrived, I stayed in a town just north of Evian. It was in the mountains. During the winter it is a ski resort.

Drive
After arriving, the view was breath taking.
It was making me miss Germany very badly.
The view from my balcony was fantastic. In the early morning I would be waken by the oddest
sound of bells. Come to find out, the cattle grazing on the hillside all have bells so their owners
can keep track of them. I had my own dedicated alarm "bells" at 5AM every morning (about 60 of them at once).
But, really quickly I realized I was most definitely back in Europe when I stepped in the the very SMALL bathroom.
