September 11, 2002 Ground Zero
- World Trade Center Site, New York, NY This was a visit to ground zero for the first
annual rememberance ceremony. The President placed a wreath at the site.
Those in attendance were only the family members of those that lost their
lives.
This view is of the ramp leading down into the pit.
All along the ground throughout the pit were letters to loved ones,
pictures and belongins left in rememberance from family and friends. In
the center, in which you see here, are flowers and wreaths.
Major Montanus (Marine) was the military aide on duty that day and
was tasked to hold the wreath that was to be placed by the President.
This is the plaque that the President presented.
I know it is hard to see, but the President are First Lady are the
two people walking down the ramp about mid-way.
